Going into the top of the eighth inning, there was the feeling that this could be the end of the perfect conference season for Missouri State.
Once again, the Bears proved that feeling wrong.
Missouri State (31-14, 12-0) rallied to beat Southern Illinois (23-24, 6-7) with three late runs to win 7-5. The Bears remain the nation’s only NCAA baseball team that is still undefeated in conference play.
A four-run third inning gave the Salukis a 5-4 lead. They would hold on to that lead until the eighth.
Jeremy Eierman scored on a fielder’s choice to tie the game at five in the eighth.
