Bears head coach Dana Ford on whole-body cryotherapy: 'Let's leave that to the pros'

A few hours after Missouri State announced Abdul Fofana will redshirt this season, new Missouri State head basketball coach Dana Ford told the News-Leader that he's "ignorant" when it comes to the therapy and he would probably not bring it into MSU.

Fofana — along with former Bear Reggie Scurry — was injured on Jan. 22 in a whole-body cryotherapy incident that left both players with severe blisters on their feet.

Whole-body cryotherapy involves supercooling the body using liquid nitrogen. It is used to improve recovery and reduce soreness after workouts, though the Food and Drug Administration and others have questioned its efficacy, citing a lack of scientific evidence.
