Missouri State started the game with two 3-pointers from freshman guard Jarred Dixon and junior guard Dequon Miller. They went up 9-2, then 15-4 and then 22-13.
Up until that point, Wichita State missed almost every shot and the Bears (6-11, 2-3 Missouri Valley Conference) were capitalizing despite surrendering seven early Shocker (11-5, 5-0) offensive rebounds.
WSU relies heavily on a consistent variation of buckets, and despite having a 37-36 lead at halftime and shooting 17-39 from the field, the Shockers were just 2-14 from the 3-point line and 1-5 from the free throw line.
The Shockers scored 30 first half points in the paint, finishing the game with 46 down-low.
