It wasn’t all that long ago when the Missouri State baseball team was making history, with a 25-5 start that was the best in program history.
The Bears were a fixture in the national rankings, rising as high as No. 10 at one point.
It was even more recently that the best thing you could say about the season was it would be over soon. That came after the wheels came off in Missouri Valley Conference play, with 14 losses in an 18-game stretch and a pair of five-game losing skids.
But with the regular season over, closed out with a 5-2 victory over Illinois State on Saturday afternoon at Hammons Field, the Bears appear to be on the upswing again.
