The search for Kickapoo’s next boys basketball coach spanned about 11 miles.
Mitch McHenry stands to make a return to the Kickapoo sideline after spending the past year as the head coach at Logan-Rogersville High School. McHenry replaces Dick Rippee, who coached the Chiefs to a record of 183-49 over eight seasons.
Rippee resigned from Kickapoo to accept the head basketball coaching position at Bentonville High School in Bentonville, Arkansas.
McHenry served as an assistant on Rippee’s staff before Rogersville managed to hire him away last spring. Rogersville went 16-12 in McHenry’s lone season with the Wildcats.
