Baseball draft has Missouri State players, coaches keeping watch

Missouri State baseball coach Keith Guttin calls it an “interesting month.”

The MLB Draft starts Thursday and runs through Saturday, covering 40 rounds and more than 1,200 picks in all.

Guttin wants to see players like outfielder Spencer Johnson and pitcher Sam Perez, seniors on the 2016 Bears’ team, go as high as possible.

But he also has an 11-player recruiting class coming in to fill open spots on the roster. And those players are eligible to be taken, too.

Players with eligibility remaining who are taken in the draft have until July 15 to sign.
