Missouri State beat Arkansas two times in three games in June to win the NCAA Tournament Fayetteville Regional. In thrilling games between two evenly matched teams, the Bears were just a tad better than their Southeastern Conference opponents.
But when it comes to salaries for coaches, the Bears can't compete.
After the season, hitting coach Nate Thompson left Missouri State for the same job at Arkansas and tripled his salary in the process.
Contract information obtained by the News-Leader and Baxter Bulletin indicates Thompson's base salary went from $55,898 a year at Missouri State to $165,000 at Arkansas.
