Who would shoot a bald eagle?

That's what the Missouri Department of Conservation wants to know.

A bald eagle that suffered a gunshot injury to its wing near Paris, Missouri, is being treated at the University of Missouri's Raptor Rehabilitation Project in Columbia.

Tracey Berry, communications director, said the full-grown female eagle was brought to the rehabilitation center on Thursday.

"It was hit in the ulna — a bone in its wing — and we'll wrap the ulna and put her on anti-inflammatories," Berry said.

She said it's too early to say how well the eagle will respond to treatment or whether it could lose its ability to fly.
