Alabama beats Georgia in overtime of College Football Playoff championship game

ALABAMA 26, GEORGIA 23

Alabama won the toss. Georgia gets ball first. Just like in Pasadena a week ago.

The Bulldogs kicked a field goal on its first possession after going backward due to a Jake Fromm sack. Rodrigo Blankenship responded with a 51-yard boot to put Georgia up three.

Tua Tagovailoa turned despair into exhilaration. The true freshman took a 16-yard sack on the first play of overtime. He responded on the next play with a 41-yard touchdown pass to DeVonta Smith to give the Crimson Tide the title.

It's the fifth national title in nine years for Alabama and Nick Saban.
