Along with the big numbers of deer harvested over the weekend, thousands of tissue samples from lymph nodes are off to be tested for Chronic Wasting Disease.

Hunters across 34 counties participated in mandatory sampling efforts Nov. 13 and 14 to look for the disease in harvested deer. Missouri Department of Conservation collected tissue samples of lymph nodes from more than 18,700 hunter-harvested deer for CWD testing. Preliminary data from MDC showed that hunters harvested 89,861 deer over the weekend.
