I've been a beat writer for the Missouri State baseball team for the past four years, and I've seen the Bears go from (nearly) the highest of the highs to the lowest of the lows.
The 2017 team was magical — no one will forget the stacked lineup featuring Jake Burger, Jeremy Eierman and Justin Paulsen. The Super Regional team also had the pitching to go with it to form a complete team with the likes of Doug Still and Dylan Coleman.
There was the 2016 team — I covered at the school paper — that had the best start to a season in program history thanks to an even more powerful lineup with Burger, Eierman, Paulsen and Spencer Johnson.
