Mississippi State’s Gavin Ware gets the distinction of being the first SEC Player of the Week for the 2015-16 season.
The senior forward from Starkville recorded a double-double in the Bulldogs’ 106-88 opening win over Eastern Washington on Friday. Ware scored a career-high 26 points on 11 of 14 shooting, grabbed 13 rebounds, blocked three shots and had a steal.
“I’m very honored to be named SEC Player of the Week, but the credit all goes to my teammates and the crowd for my play Friday night,” Ware said. “When you have the support I did from my teammates and the atmosphere that crowd provided, there’s no way you don’t play at your best.
