Two Mississippi State players were honored by the Southeastern Conference on Monday.
Shortstop Ryan Gridley was named Freshman All-SEC while senior third baseman Seth Heck was selected Student-Athlete of the Year for the second straight year.
Gridley started 47 of the 49 games in which he appeared batting .243 with with one home run, 21 RBIs and four stolen bases. The Milton, Ga., native also made 170 assists which ranked third in the conference.

Catcher Gavin Collins earned a spot on the Freshman All-SEC team in 2014.
