Tommy Stevens has won over his head coach. The new Mississippi State quarterback has apparently won over his teammates as well, as he was elected as a team captain by a large margin. Now, it’s time to see if Stevens can do what his main job is – win football games.

Stevens will make his first career start Saturday at 11 a.m. when Mississippi State begins its 2019 football season with a game against Louisiana at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.

It’s a big stage for the once-Penn State player to make his Bulldog debut.
