Mississippi State made a major splash on national signing day by inking the state’s top prospect in Noxubee County five-star Jeffrey Simmons.
The 6-foot-4, 277-pound defensive end chose the Bulldogs over 13 other offers including other finalists Alabama and Ole Miss.
Simmons is also rated the No. 3 strong-side defensive end and the nation’s 19th overall prospect by 247Sports.com. He was also a U.S. Army All-American.
As a senior, Simmons made 105 tackles, 20.5 for loss, 18.5 sacks, one interception, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and five blocked kicks. He also rushed for four touchdowns and caught another.
