STARKVILLE, Miss. – After last week’s stunning loss to South Alabama many questioned how Mississippi State would respond against South Carolina.
The Bulldogs responded well Saturday night, downing the Gamecocks 27-14.
Sophomore Nick Fitzgerald led the way for the Bulldogs with a school-record 195 rushing yards for a quarterback to go along with his 178 passing yards and two touchdowns. The Bulldogs outgained the Gamecocks 485-243, and weren’t threatened after building a 24-0 halftime lead.
Fitzgerald, who started last week but only played two series before he was pulled for ineffectiveness, was sharp from the start.
