JACKSON Miss. — Senior Mississippi State baseball player Jake Mangum has had an incredible final season of his decorated baseball career at Mississippi State University. For his efforts this season, Mangum was awarded the C Spire Ferriss Trophy on Monday, an award given to the top collegiate baseball player in the state of Mississippi.
Five finalists are chosen and voted on by the state’s college baseball coaches and a panel of Major League Baseball professional scouts, along with fan voting. Coaches and scouts account for 90% of the vote, while 10% of the award is done through the fan voting.
