Mississippi State basketball began the 2025-2026 season with a win, defeating North Alabama 86-62. A poor end to the first half, featuring ugly offensive possessions and lapses in defense, saw the Bulldogs enter the break up just 38-37. UNA would maintain momentum early in the second half, taking a 51-42 lead.
From that point forward, however, it was total domination by the Bulldogs. State would score 16-straight to take control of the game and ultimately finish on a 44-11 run to secure a comfortable win. Josh Hubbard led all scorers with 27 points on 7-16 shooting and record a career-high eight assists.
