Mississippi State quarterback Nick Fitzgerald is the latest quarterback to flourish under head coach Dan Mullen.
Mullen — who served as a quarterbacks coach at Utah (2003-05) and added offensive coordinator to his title at Florida (2005-08) before joining the Bulldogs in 2009 — groomed Josh Harris, Alex Smith, Tim Tebow and Dak Prescott to decorated collegiate careers in the past.
Scouts have already taken notice of Fitzgerald, including one who compared him favorably to Tebow, who won a Heisman Trophy and two national championships under Mullen’s tutelage.
“Fitzgerald just broke his school season total offense record following the best player in school history and Fitzgerald is just three years removed from running a Wing T offense in Georgia high school,” the scout told WalterFootball.
