Former Mississippi State quarterback Tyler Russell is taking his talents north of the border.
Russell signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League on Wednesday as a member of their practice squad.
The 6-foot-4, 221-pounder from Meridian lettered for the Bulldogs from 2010 to 2013. Russell completed 58.7 percent of his passes for 5,441 yards and a school record 42 touchdowns during his career. He is also tied for the MSU single-game record for passing touchdowns with four.
Russell’s career was cut short by a labrum injury in his right shoulder causing him to miss the Egg and Liberty Bowls during his senior season.
