Reports: Mississippi State hires Brett Elliott, who had been OC at Texas State, as QB coach

Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen apparently has filled the one coaching vacancy on his staff, as multiple reports say Brett Elliott – who had been the offensive coordinator at Texas State – is the Bulldogs’ new quarterback coach.

Mullen was looking for a quarterback coach after Brian Johnson left to become offensive coordinator at Houston for new Cougars coach Major Applewhite.

Elliott and Mullen have ties going back almost two decades. Elliott was a quarterback at Utah when Mullen was an assistant, and he also worked for Mullen as a grad assistant/quality control coach at Mississippi State in from 2012-14.
