After a lengthy and secretive recruiting process, it looks like Mississippi State has landed one of the best basketball products in the 2015 class in the commitment of McDonald’s All-American Malik Newman.
Newman, a 6’4″ combo guard from Callaway (Jackson, MS), started since his freshman year and averaged 26.1 points per game over his high school career, including 29.7 as a senior en route to 4 straight high school championships.
The instant reaction is simply, “WOW”. Ever since Ben Howland was hired, there was talk that Mississippi State was back in the game, but many thought the Bulldogs would just have too much ground to make up in a short amount of time over John Calipari and Kentucky.
