Ole Miss owes much of its success to Houston Nutt

Houston Nutt doesn’t get a lot of love from Ole Miss fans these days. In spite of back to back Cotton Bowl appearances during his first two seasons, Nutt slumped badly in his last two seasons, going 4-8 and 2-10. Even worse, he lost his final three Egg Bowls to Mississippi State. Even though the Bulldogs are not the “true” rival of the Rebels, this is still very much a deal breaker in Oxford. So Nutt departed Ole Miss after the 2011 season and Hugh Freeze was hired.

Freeze has done a nice job making Ole Miss relevant again.
