It’s never easy being the guy to follow the guy, and for Nick Fitzgerald it’s been a tough road in 2016 being Dak Prescott’s replacement.
Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen didn’t talk much publicly about Prescott’s replacement, and even joked before the season that, “I was hoping to be ready to name a starter. I see, really, Nick Williams.”
That was play on words referring to the top two contenders, Fitzgerald and Damien Williams.
Fitzgerald drew the start against in the opener against South Alabama, played two series, then wasn’t seen the rest of the day.
