One day after Mississippi State head coach Joe Moorhead announced Tommy Stevens as his starting quarterback, the runner-up in this month’s MSU quarterback competition, Keytaon Thompson, has decided to explore his options to play elsewhere.

Thompson, the junior signal caller that has seen plenty of playing time for the Bulldogs the last couple of seasons, has entered the transfer portal an MSU official confirmed on Friday. It’s the first step in what could very well be the end of Thompson’s stay in Starkville.

Thompson has played in 19 career games with Mississippi State, including a pair of starts.
