MSU apologizes for vulgar apparel

Mississippi State’s newest adidas baseball warm-ups created some controversy Thursday afternoon.

The Diamond Dogs debuted new shirts with “Viva Starkvegas” on the front and various school specific sayings scattered throughout the rest of the shirt.

However, one of the statements embedded in the font reads “F- – K THE SCHOOL UP NORTH” referring to MSU’s instate rivalry with Ole Miss.

The shirts and spikes with the same pattern were to be worn for practice and would not be used in a game.

MSU director of athletics Scott Stricklin released a statement on the matter in a series of tweets which read “This afternoon it came to my attention that a shirt provided to our baseball team by adidas has an inappropriate phrase written on it … This is completely unacceptable and does not reflect the standards and values of Mississippi State University or its athletic dept … For anyone who was offended by this shirt, as I was, please accept our apologies and rest assured that this has been rectified.
