Mississippi State’s Jeffery Simmons found guilty of simple assault

Mississippi State defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons was found guilty of simple assault and malicious mischief Tuesday, according to WTVA.

Simmons, an incoming freshman who enrolled at the school last month “under conditions,” pleaded no contest to the simple assault charge and not guilty to the malicious mischief charge stemming from an incident where he hit a woman in March.

An additional charge of disturbing the peace was dismissed by the Macon, Mississippi court.

Simmons was fined $175 (simple assault) and $300 (malicious mischief) for the two charges he was found guilty.
