Mississippi State women’s basketball took down then 8th ranked University of Texas 79-68 on Sunday and did it in commanding fashion. Vic Schaefer’s squad surged in the second quarter and was up 42-25 at the half as a result. The Bulldogs rode that comfortable lead to their eventual victory, their first over a program ranked in the Top 10 since 2010.
And the victory confirmed that this women’s basketball team should be able to compete, and potentially beat, just about any team in the nation that isn’t named UConn. Vic Schaefer has his team ranked 7th in the nation, tying MSU’s highest ranking in program history, and he’s built the team to be able to make another historic run this season.
