Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen used an oxymoron when asked Monday about the consistency of his Bulldogs team.
“We’re consistently inconsistent right now,” Mullen told reporters. “At times we play really well.”
Mullen’s answer came just two days after Mississippi State fell to 2-5 on the season Saturday after a 40-38 loss at Kentucky.
The Bulldogs also have lost to South Alabama, LSU, Auburn and BYU this season.
Currently, Mississippi State is on pace to miss out on a bowl game for the first time since 2008, Mullen’s first season as coach.
Mississippi State’s schedule does not get any easier, either, with games against Samford, Texas A&M, Alabama, Arkansas and Ole Miss remaining.
