Mississippi State women’s basketball falls to Alabama 71-63

Outplayed by Alabama throughout, three Bulldogs in double figures was simply not enough to get past the Crimson Tide.

Rickea Jackson posted 18 points. Jessika Carter and Aliyah Matharu added 11 apiece. But the story of the game was the Alabama’s dominance in the paint due to the play of forwards Jasmine Walker and Ariyah Copeland.

Walker scored a game-high 20 points. Copeland contributed with a double-double that included 19 points and 11 boards.

While the Bulldogs struggled in the paint, expect Nikki McCray-Penson to address the issue going forward. As this year is the first of the McCray-Penson era in Starkville, there is room for improvement.
