Mississippi State sweeps Saturday doubleheader

STARKVILLE, Miss. -- To close out its 2016 non-conference slate, the 25th-ranked Mississippi State women's tennis team (9-1) defeated Louisiana Lafayette (6-6) 4-0 and No. 73 Southern Miss (7-1) 6-1 Saturday to extend its win streak to six matches entering Southeastern Conference play next weekend.

The Bulldogs began the day by winning in doubles once again, as the tandem of Caroline Kelly and Georgiana Patrasc captured a 6-0 victory against Juliette Clement and Elena Sava on court 3. At the No. 2 position, MSU's duo of Anastasia Rentouli and Kristina Vozniak downed Abby Johnson and Alexandra Way 6-2 to clinch the doubles point and give MSU a 1-0 lead.
