Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen has another vacancy to fill on his coaching staff for the 2017 season.
Bulldogs safeties coach Maurice Linguist has left Starkville to take a position at Minnesota. Linguist will work for new Golden Gophers coach P.J. Fleck, who led Western Michigan to an undefeated season in the Mid-American Conference.
Linguist is moving to relatively familiar territory. He joined the Bulldogs’ staff for the 2016 season after two years at Iowa State.
With Linguist leaving after only a year at the school, Mullen and new defensive coordinator Todd Grantham will have more work to do to assemble their staff.
