Mississippi State’s 2018 recruiting class grew by one Friday, with Leesburg (Ga.) Lee County offensive lineman Griffin McDowell announcing his commitment on Twitter.

McDowell (6 feet 4, 270 pounds) currently is an unranked prospect. Leesburg, Ga., is a town of about 3,000 in south-central Georgia.
McDowell primarily was recruited by Bulldogs tight ends coach D.J. Looney. The relationship could go back to when Looney served as an offensive graduate assistant at Georgia.
McDowell’s only other current offer from a Power Five school is from Kansas.
