When Mississippi State kicks off Friday night against BYU, the Bulldogs will be in nearly uncharted territory in the program’s history.
Friday’s game, set for LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo, Utah, will be only the sixth game all-time for Mississippi State against a team from the Mountain Time Zone. It will be just the third game played in the Mountain Time Zone.
Two of those were against BYU, in 2000 and ’01, with the Bulldogs defeating the Cougars in Provo but then losing the following season in Starkville.
The other three? Mississippi State's first opponents from the region were Colorado State, whom they defeated twice.
