Mississippi State Football: Why SEC defenses should fear Marcus Murphy

A freak athlete in the open-field who can cover ground, Murphy is a gamechanger whose immediate impact sets a physical tone on the defensive end.

As a sophomore, Murphy posted 26 tackles, 18 solos, along with two interceptions. Though his season was cut short to five games, Murphy was on track to make his name. Given that he will be the starter in 2020 look for Murphy to have a career year.

Opposite C.J. Morgan, an experienced strong safety, known for being an opportunistic hard-hitter, Murphy has the perfect mentor. Going into his junior year, Murphy will take on more responsibility.
