Mississippi State lost veteran defensive line coach David Turner to Texas A&M last week, leaving the Bulldogs looking for yet another defensive assistant. Mullen already had hired three new defensive coaches this offseason, and Baker’s hiring finishes a complete staff makeover on that side of the ball.
The new coordinator and linebacker coach is Peter Sirmon; he replaces Manny Diaz, who went to Miami. The new cornerback coach is Terrell Buckley; he replaces Deshea Townsend, who went to the NFL’s Tennessee Titans. The new safeties coach is Maurice Linguist; he replaces Tony Hughes, who became coach at FCS member Jackson State.
