Simmons, a defensive end who was considered the best prospect in Mississippi in the 2016 recruiting cycle, signed with the Bulldogs in February and is scheduled to enroll later this year.
But early last week, Simmons was arrested after video surfaced of a man striking a woman several times while she was on the ground. He was charged with disturbing the peace and simple assault – two misdemeanors – but his future at Mississippi State is anything but simple.
After video surfaced, a long apology went up on Simmons’ Facebook page, saying he took “full responsibility” for his actions, that he was trying to “defend my family” and asked for forgiveness.
