Mississippi State dismisses freshman following armed robbery charges

Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen’s post St. Petersburg Bowl celebration has been cut short now that he’s had to kick freshman defensive back John Michael Hankerson off the team. According to the Starkville Daily, Hankerson was arrested by U.S. Marshals on 10 charges.

Hankerson was charged with five counts of armed robbery, three counts of aggravated assault, and two counts kidnapping. The alleged incident took place on Dec. 17.

Was told Hankerson & 2 other unidentified black males robbed an apartment and "pistol whipped" occupants and took items.

Hankerson is still in jail and must post a $420,000 bond.
