Mississippi State opened spring practice March 9, then took time off for spring break before getting back on the field Monday afternoon. Bulldogs coach Dan Mullen told reporters that this week is for the players to get re-acclimated. Presumably, the all-new defensive staff is getting re-acclimated, too.
The Jackson (Miss.) Clarion-Ledger reports that Monday’s reps at quarterback were determined by grade-point average. Junior Damien Williams went first, followed by sophomore Nick Fitzgerald and redshirt freshmen Nick Tiano. Sophomore Elijah Staley – considered Fitzgerald’s main competition for the job – is out for a while with a hamstring issue.
