SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico –Another dominating defensive performance in the second half lifted the No. 9 Mississippi State women’s basketball team.
Pulling away from a slim two-point halftime lead, MSU poured it on the second half to take a 90-68 win over Western Michigan in the second day of the Puerto Rico Classic.
“I thought our team came out in the second half and played much, much better. We probably played our worst half of the year and were up two,” MSU’s Vic Schaefer said. “The second half three things happened: Chinwe (Okorie) established our inside game, (Teaira) McCowan came off the bench and really established our inside game and Victoria (Vivians) took over the game in a brief stretch where she made some great shots.
