Maroon and Gray combined for nine extra-base hits Saturday in Mississippi State’s third intrasquad scrimmage of the fall, with Maroon walking away with a 9-6 victory that lasted seven innings.
Tied at 4-4 after six innings, the game was played under international tiebreaker rules in the seventh. With a runner at second with one out in the top of the seventh, newcomer Jacob Barfield launched a two-run home run to left to give Maroon a lead it would never relinquish.
Also hitting a home run for Maroon was the red-hot Brent Rooker, who finished 2 for 3 with a run scored and a game-high three RBIs.
