One of the most beloved players to ever suit up for Mississippi State might soon be slapping the baseball all around the Big Apple.

Mississippi State senior centerfielder Jake Mangum was picked by the New York Mets in the fourth round of the Major League Baseball Draft on Tuesday. Mangum was the draft’s 118th overall selection and his pick carries a slot value of $487,900.

Mangum became the second Bulldog to be taken in this year’s draft following pitcher Ethan Small’s selection by the Milwaukee Brewers in the first round on Monday.

In Mangum, the Mets chose the all-time hits leader in Southeastern Conference history.
