STARKVILLE – A pair of local freshmen played a big role in the Maroon team claiming a walk-off victory in Game 1 of the Bulldog World Series.
With the intrasquad scrimmage tied in the bottom of the seventh and final inning, Pontotoc’s Delvin Zinn slapped a one out double to left.
Zinn took third on a passed ball and scored the game-winning run on a sacrifice fly to center by Luke Alexander of Belmont to lift Maroon to a 4-3 victory over its Gray counterparts.
“We learned a lot today about ourselves,” said MSU skipper John Cohen.
