Jefferson honored by the SEC

Mississippi State senior A.J. Jefferson was recognized as the SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week for his performance against South Carolina over the weekend.

Jefferson made five tackles, two stops behind the line of scrimmage and a sack against the Gamecocks. The 6-foot-3, 280-pounder from Summit tops the conference and ranks third nationally with six tackles for loss this season and is tied for the league lead with three sacks.

“He’s worked for five years now to become a great player,” said MSU coach Dan Mullen. “It’s a great honor for him this week.
