Mississippi State scored two late touchdowns, but it was a classic case of “too little, too late” as the Bulldogs fell 23-20 at LSU.
Here are five takeaways from the Bulldogs’ loss.
Bulldogs pass defense still in disarray
LSU QB Danny Etling made his first Tigers start and completed 63 percent of his passes for 215 yards and a touchdown. LSU, a run-first team, did what it wanted against a porous Mississippi State secondary, which doesn’t bode well moving forward for the Bulldogs. It’s looking more and more as if the Bulldogs lack the players needed to be competitive on the back end in Peter Sirmon’s defense.
