How Stanford won the first half to lead South Carolina 29-20

DALLAS -- Stanford leads South Carolina 29-20 at halftime of their national semifinal at American Airlines Arena.

A look at how the first half played out.

How the half was won: The opening 20 minutes were all about the Stanford defense and the strategy coach Tara VanDerveer employed. The Cardinal switched from a zone to a man-to-man throughout the half, and in both defenses the Gamecocks players with the ball were double-teamed in the lane. The Stanford defense was especially aware of A'ja Wilson. She faced two and three defenders whenever and wherever she got the ball.
