Girodo shines in first MLB outing

Chad Girodo became the 53rd former Mississippi State player to reach the Major Leagues and made his debut Friday night for the Toronto Blue Jays.

Girodo pitched two scoreless innings of relief against the Oakland Athletics allowing a hit and striking out one.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound southpaw from Hartselle, Alabama was called up from the Buffalo Bisons, the Blue Jay’s Triple-A organization where he had made four appearances going 2-0 with a 1.35 ERA, seven strikeouts and two walks in 6 2/3 innings.

Girodo was drafted in the ninth round by Toronto in 2013 is the third Bulldog from the College World Series squad that year to reach the big leagues joining fellow pitchers Kendall Graveman and Jacob Lindgren.
