Evan McPherson, the nation’s top-ranked kicker, has committed to Mississippi State.
McPherson announced his decision Saturday on Twitter.
“I am excited to announce that I have committed to Mississippi State University!” he wrote. “I would like to thank @CoachDanMullen @ChrisBoniol for giving me the opportunity to join the Mississippi State Family!”
The 6-foot, 165-pound McPherson, from Fort Payne (Ala.) High, chose the Bulldogs over offers from Miami, Army, Iowa State, Kentucky, Nebraska and Rutgers.
McPherson’s commitment came after the Bulldogs’ annual Maroon and White spring game Saturday when he informed Mullen and Boniol, a special teams quality control coach, of his decision.
