Dan Mullen a front-runner for VA Tech job?

Virginia Tech will be on the hunt for a new head coach since Frank Beamer is retiring after this season, and one name they could turn to is current Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen.

Per a report from Scott Roussel of Football Scoop, Mullen is a “serious candidate for the position.”

The Hokies could certainly turn into an ACC contender again under Mullen, who has done quite well with the Bulldogs despite having to play in the ultra-competitive SEC West. He is 54-34 (26-29 SEC) and has a bowl record of 3-2.

On top of that, with Mississippi State’s best player in quarterback Dak Prescott set to graduate after this season, perhaps it is time for Mullen to move on for a fresh start elsewhere and not have to worry about going through a rebuild in the SEC.
