There’s no secret to Kentucky’s greatest challenge Saturday night in Starkville. It’s the 6-foot-2, 230-pound senior who plays quarterback for Mississippi State. It’s Dak Prescott.
Eighth in the Heisman Trophy voting last year after leading State to the school’s first-ever No. 1 ranking in the AP poll, Prescott decided to return for his senior season. Some were surprised. Many NFL scouts were not. Prescott vowed to improve as a passer to make himself a stronger pro prospect.
So far, the strategy has worked. Though Prescott is in the middle of the pack in what figures to be a strong year for quarterbacks, the Haughton, Louisiana native has improved as a passer.
